09 February 2009 -

Just got our First Homeowner's Grant of $12,000 deposited to our bank account, although we were not qualified for the first Homeowner's boost as we signed our building contract earlier than the cut-off date of October 2008. We missed out on the additional $14,000 but then $12,000 is not too shabby either.

We went to the timber venetian blinds store last weekend to ask for a quote and we were quoted for $8,000 just for the windows excluding the sliding doors. This might be too much for us so I'll try to look around shop around some more.

As expected, we received the Lockup Progress claim Invoice from the builder and we have forwarded this to our lender.

Wednesday, Feb 11 - Went onsite and was happy to see that the fixing stage has started. Internal doors and skirting delivered. Cupboards, cabinets and the kitchen sink has been installed. Will visit the site again this weekend to check for more progress.

I have also spoken to the Site Supervisor yesterday and mentioned to him our concern about the refrigerator space which was not square. He said he will have a loot at it today and hope it gets rectified as soon as possible. When I asked him how long is it before site completion, he thinks it's about 8-10 weeks more and that there will be a walkthrough approximately 3 weeks before the proposed date of Handover.

Everything's looking good now and we can't believe that our house will be finished soon.

On this note, we also we symphatize with those who have lost their loved ones and properties due to the Victorian Bushfires last weekend. :-(
